Driving to the Trinity Site with some friends. Unfortunately that meant making an eight hour drive after work yesterday. Surprisingly fun! All the roads had 75mph speed limits but were also quite twisty. Also some good scenery.

Jealous! Visiting Trinity is on my long to-do list. Next opportunity is April 6 next year.

Looks like you’re doing the Southern route. As you drive through Mescalero on US70, you’d be well served to stop at the Old Road Restaurant . Look it up on Google Maps, as I don’t think there is a sign on the building, but it is on the left after you turn off on to Old Road from 70. It’s some fantastic New Mexican food, and it is also a place that only those in the know , well, know about.   P lanning on spending any time in the Las Cruces/El Paso area?

Ah, you probably missed out on the bonus activity that is always fun when you visit Trinity: you can hit the bar/restaurant where the green chile cheeseburger was invented. Not quite as fancy as the more modern interpretations, but for the same basic 70+ year old recipe, it’s still pretty good.

(Because, green chile on a burger is always good.)
